4. Aubry-Andre model

Presentations » 4. Aubry-Andre model

(Taken by Jakub Janarek)

The Aubry-Andre model is a tight-binding model similar to the Anderson model, but where the disorder is replaced by a periodic modulation of the on-site energies, with a spatial period incommensurate with the lattice period. It results in very different localization properties. This model has been explored experimentally (Nature paper). The original theoretical paper is heavy mathematics.
